FOUNDED 1874

You are standing in the very  place where it all began. It was here, in December 1874, that Josef  Müllschitzký brewed beer for the first time. With the belief that something  truly pure could be born in the mountains.

1918 - 1939

THE INTERWAR PERIOD

During the interwar period, production at the Hanušovice brewery grew steadily. Over the years, the brewery rose to third place in terms of production volume.

1970

REPLACEMENT OF WOODEN TRANSPORT BARRELS

Wooden transport barrels were gradually replaced by aluminium ones, and the brewery exceeded an annual output of 300,000 hectolitres for the first time.

1983

ŠERÁK BEER

The first test batch of Šerák beer was brewed in November 1983. Šerák was permanently added to the range in January 1984 as the first 11° beer on the market in what was then Czechoslovakia.

1993

OWN WATER SOURCE

Two separate wells of exceptionally high-quality water were established, meeting the strictest standards for infant water. The water drawn from these wells comes from the second aquifer within the hydrogeological structure of the Ramzová thrust zone in the Hrubý Jeseník Mountains.

1996

ESTABLISHMENT OF HOLBA

A separate company, Pivovar Holba, a.s., Hanušovice, was established as a subsidiary of PMS Přerov, a.s., together with Pivovar Zubr a.s., Přerov, and Pivovar Litovel a.s.

2021

FORMATION OF PIVOVARY CZ GROUP

The Holba, Litovel and Zubr breweries were merged into a single joint-stock company, PIVOVARY CZ GROUP.

2024

KOFOLA ACQUIRES A MAJORITY STAKE

The company Kofola acquires a majority stake and becomes the main owner. This step the way for closer cooperation, a stronger foundation and the further development of the company as a whole.

2025

A NEW LOOK. PURE ORIGIN.

Holba sets out for the mountain peaks in a new visual identity. But its purity remains. We continue to brew our beer with the same authentic feel, with respect for the craft and for the mountains we come from.

About the brewing process

BREWHOUSE

The beginning of a mountain story.

We brew with authenticity,  just as it has always been done in the mountains. The foundation of our pure  beer comes from high-quality regional ingredients. It is here that its  character is born, as pure as the air of the Jeseníky Mountains.

FERMENTATION CELLAR

Where the beer breathes Our beers are given space here.

The brewmaster sees every detail and carefully guides the process. It is here that Holba’s natural character and liveliness are born.

LAGERING CELLAR

Silence that shapes the flavour

Our honest twelve-degree lager rests for over two months, because good things take time. In the cool of the cellars, the flavour softens and rounds out. It is here that the beer takes on its mountain balance.

FILTRATION

The journey to pure flavour

We carefully remove any sediments and impurities that form during production. We don't rush a thing, as purity of flavour matters more to us than speed. This is what gives Holba its clear and distinctive profile.

BOTTLING HALL

The brewer’s final touch

Once the beer has matured, we bottle it with the utmost care so that it retains its freshness and soul. Every bottle and keg passes through the hands of people who know that inside lies a piece of the Jeseníky Mountains. We prepare it for its journey to you with respect for everything that went into it in the weeks spent in our cellars.

LABORATORY

We guard what matters most

We check every batch to ensure it is just as authentic and honest as the one before. We monitor the flavour, quality and stability of our brew, leaving nothing to chance. This is our assurance that Holba tastes exactly as it should.

LOGISTICS

A journey all the way to you

Our fresh beer travels from the mountains to your taps and shelves in perfect condition. It keeps its freshness right up to the moment you open it. Every sip is a reminder of the tranquillity and beauty of the place where it was made.

ENJOYMENT

And now it’s up to you

The most important step no longer takes place in the brewery, but out there. When you treat yourself to a beer in a small mountain pub after a long and rewarding hike, everything we do suddenly makes sense. Wherever you are – cheers!

Get to know Holba up close

Take an exceptional journey  through our brewery. Instead of mountain peaks, you'll discover the hidden  places where the purity of our beer is born. You'll be accompanied by our  beer guide, who knows every part of the brewery as well as the mountain trails.  They'll show you the places from which the journey begins towards the beer  you enjoy in mountain pubs after your trips.

Museum

Explore historical exhibits

The Holba Museum is like a small stop on a mountain trail.

A place where you slow your pace and look back to those times when beer was made by hand, with an honest and authentic respect for the place. You'll see old tools, wooden barrels, cooperage equipment and tapping equipment that evoke the atmosphere of mountain pubs.

It's a journey into history that carries the same purity as the landscape from which our beer grows.
